As you get older and your relationships multiply, and your career piles up, there's a phrase you catch yourself saying more often than you'd expect.
"I knew it would go like this."
Generally, the more life experience you accumulate, the more often you find that your hunches turn out right. And every time that happens, you tend to think: "Right - I've built up my own experience too. Next time I should trust my gut and not bother with things (or choices) I don't need to."
(But, you know..)
Maybe... actually,
it might be worth considering the possibility that "it's not about whether my hunch is right or wrong - it's that I've been acting in a way that makes my hunch not turn out wrong."
