Freedom
Doing nothing is not freedom.
What doesn't exist now but is what you ought to become — that is the ideal.
And only when there is an ideal do you begin acting for the ideal you set for yourself.
So freedom inevitably comes with suffering.
Because the underside of freedom is suffering.
Only when we can affirm the suffering we brought on ourselves can we be free.
Freedom is the capacity to begin something on one's own. (Kant, Critique of Pure Reason)
Doing nothing is not freedom.
