Late July, two thousand and nineteen,
I'm making my living by planning a certain community.
Because of that, I'm cramming on generations unfamiliar to me and the culture around them.
And then, a sudden insight—
In the distant past, people who had lost their master? followed leaders or ideologies.
In the recent past, a new master — the oppression of dictators — made them cry out for freedom.
... and so
The generation that benefitted most from freedom,
and the generation most harmed by neglect, were born.
And recently, generations seem to be dreaming of a new autocracy.
In order not to live as victims of the neglect-in-the-name-of-freedom that the generation just before them had to endure,
they seem to want what is clear and absolutely unambiguous.
In truth, what they denounce as "the old evils" may not really be justice.
No. For them, justice is fairness.
This current isn't only an issue with today's generation in our country.
The whole world is flowing the same way. That's why the far right is thriving.
Now, the soil is perfectly suited for conservatives and the right to take root.
Here, the parties must make a choice.
Will the conservatives — like burning and plowing under a field to prepare for next year's harvest — burn away their existing vested interests and reclaim their original honor?
Will the progressives, even at the cost of bleeding, refuse comfortable compromise and see through the clear-cut elimination of the old evils to the very end?
From where I stand, it's hard to say either side is winning.
They seem to be standing right in the middle.
