[Python at Forty] How I Got Started

How I Started Studying Python

The forty I only heard about,

ah.. life.

A weightier feel than thirty,

and yet just as lightly single as thirty was.

My forty, like most forties these days, has been dabbling in the stock market.

I first encountered stocks in my twenties. I wasn't interested in them.

It was my first boss who recommended it.
The fund I half-accidentally signed up for got maybe two or three contributions before I stopped.
I don't really know why. Anyway, I forgot about it.

March 2020.
After more than ten years, I opened it up—Wow!
A return of about 180%!!!

But the balance was only about 180,000 won ㅜㅜ ㅋㅋㅋ

April 2020,

Starting over seriously, back to basics ( capital 50,000 won, return 15% )

December 2020

Whenever I exceeded expected returns I'd add a bit more capital ( capital 8,000,000 won, return 10% )

February 2021

This month the KOSPI is at an all-time high but I'm the only one sweeping the floor lol

Different from last year lol. Of course—what's usual is usual. ( capital 20,000,000 won, return: rock-bottom% lol )

Since late last year the selling by institutions and foreigners has been unsettling.

The trend is also shifting from blue chips to mid/small caps.

Going forward I'll also need to look carefully at short selling..

My returns so far are regressing—back to my original principal. ha

I thought I should build an automated trading system before it's too late.

Foreigners, institutions, and short sellers are too much to handle by hand.

I can't sit in front of a computer all day, and even if I did, sitting there wouldn't solve it.

The most important point is that my "gut feel" is slowly running out of tricks.

So in February of my forty,

my Python practice began.

Direction and Goals (February)

0. Direction: Keep basic knowledge light and quick, concept-first. Head straight for the goal. Along the way, add practice on any functions or keywords that turn out to be essential.

1. Warm-up : YouTube (Kim Wenson's Python), book (Do it! First Python)  <- 100%

2. Main study : Book (Python Securities Data Analysis) follow-along practice <- 90%

3. After the first hands-on practice~ :

    1) Add my own features, round 1

    2) Explore other books (Building a Stock Trading System Without Lifting a Finger, Building an Auto Stock Trading System with Python and React )

    3) Add my own features, round 2

    4) From there, study Python in more depth
