A summary of technology-philosophy notes, organized from Jung Jihoon's Twitter

Man-Machine Symbiosis. The symbiosis of humans and machines.
Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia: the powerful force that simple technology and the internet can unleash.
Centered on the human-technology interface and coexistence.
Similar to the "Augmented Intelligence" that the CEO of Evernote spoke of,
he brings up "Intelligence Augmentation."
The keynote is about the many cases of collective intelligence
changing the world on the back of data, the internet, and platforms, and the changes that people bring about.
He especially raises the global awareness and moral questions that arise from the symbiosis of technology and humans.
Kevin Kelly
Founder of Wired, author of "What Technology Wants." No Twitter; emphasizes the importance of an analog life.
Kevin Kelly. Technology = "No Theory"
He begins by inquiring into technology itself.
A mouse looks simple, but countless technologies — the laser, IC chips, the board, and so on —
form a kind of ecosystem, networked together.
Technology, more than we think, carries a positive kind of morality.
What does technology want? If we view DNA as bits,
they form a kind of kingdom of their own — and this is what Kelly calls the Technium.
What technology wants,
what evolution wants.
Evolution wants to steadily increase complexity, from the simple to the complex.
Kevin Kelly explains that the Technium is part of evolution and constitutes a 7th kingdom.
Does it feel like the Transformers universe?
These changes bring new solutions and new problems.
Most recent problems, in broad terms, begin with technology (Technogenic).
We are confronted with problems by the Technium and by the technologies humans have chosen,
but just as the 1% of technology that gave rise to human civilization and pushed it in a good direction led progress,
we can seek positive solutions through the coexistence of humans and technology.
The same technology that was destructive in the past
can, when well applied, advance our society.
Technology pursues Differences, Diversity, Options, Choices, Opportunities, Freedoms.
(Channy Yun: comment from his composer wife, listening to Kevin Kelly's talk with him:
"Did Van Gogh show his genius because he had tools like oil paints?
Artistry emerges without the tools, shaped by the times.
Mozart would have done something even without the piano..."
The tool is not a necessary-and-sufficient condition. #fb)
Professor Luciano Floridi.
A master of the philosophy of technology. "Enveloping the World."
What if technology envelops us without sufficient understanding?
In the past, technology enveloped specific phenomena,
but now, with advances in ICT, we can envelop nearly every phenomenon universally.
"More and better" technology matters. But beyond that, Mind Technology:
education and law matter. What we need is technology that has a low human cost but benefits the environment.
He stresses the importance of design and of active human intervention.
What are the conditions for coexistence?
Empathy. Consideration for others. Rules and systems. And freedom. Coexistence and democracy.
Either the ones with information and power become good, or they must share the information and power...
Technology has a great deal to do here.
But the problem here is
that the polarization of technology makes it hard to achieve democracy of information and power.
And the abuses of technology experts must also be kept in check.
Public participation and technology itself sometimes contribute to solving such problems.
What is the real problem in coexistence? How do we preserve our freedom of choice and our identity?
Every participant must recognize the problem. A vision for a better future. A more sustainable future.
To solve these problems, the people out in front have their own role and responsibility.
