Jonathan Livingston Seagull
The main seagull in "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" is named "Jonathan Livingston."
Jonathan in the novel always struggles to fly just a little, a little higher.
Regardless of the mocking of the other gulls, he makes endless effort to see farther.
Suddenly, in the middle of daily life, I find myself quietly watching Jonathan..
Does it really mean anything for a gull to see far?
Wouldn't the world, or reality, prefer an owl or a hawk over a gull straining to fly high?
In social life, does diverse experience and one's own values really mean anything..? I find myself thinking.
