I learned pattern-making to turn the designs in my head into clothing.
I learned interior design to create retail spaces.
I'm learning programming to turn them into services.
It wasn't that I liked or wanted to do pattern-making.
It wasn't that I liked or wanted to do interior design.
It wasn't that I liked or wanted to do programming.
I simply want to materialize the designs — or ideas — in my head.
It's simply because a realistic understanding of others is absolutely necessary in order to collaborate with people from different fields.
In other words, the design I envision only differs in the tools used — the scope and form of the design (or thought) in my head remains the same regardless of the tool. Only the medium changes. From clothing and spaces to screens and code.
I still have a long way to go, but every tool I learn becomes another language through which I can express what's inside my mind.
