* Dr. Jeong Gil-nam is one of the earliest members of internet introduction both domestically and internationally, and is reportedly researching internet introduction in Africa (likely to become a major issue and driver in Kenya). Seven years ago, he predicted that in 6~7 years' time people's computing would be done not on computers but on mobile phones. He says research findings suggest that spending on electronic devices tends to be about one tenth of average annual income, that replacement cycles for such devices are 2-3 years, and that going forward, 5.5-inch (Galaxy Note-sized) devices will be in mainstream use.
* On September 11, Seoul National University is said to be holding a fun workshop where a business scholar, a developer, and a designer will work together on a single mission.
* One impressive piece at the Gwangju Biennale was a work by An Gyu-cheol. He made one artwork from many canvases, scattered each canvas around various places including Gwangju, and during the exhibition period, what was collected was exhibited. Some people reportedly even layered their own work onto it and sent it to the gallery. Another piece conveyed the challenging spirit, resistance, hardship, and other invisible sides(?) (spirit?) carried by sneakers — a little dotted surface inside the shoe was placed there, and visitors were asked to put the shoes on, so they could feel that hidden side.
* When in Gwangju, be sure to visit a nightclub called "Jayu" (Freedom). Unlike Seoul nightclubs, it reportedly feels like walking into a concert hall. haha
- Study debrief
* The useless things you have to learn in order to use something can be solved through external knowledge; when integrated thinking is needed, it seems internal knowledge is used.
* To recite all of "Chunhyangjeon" or to memorize the Quran, rhythm, flow, and chained associations are used. In other terms, this could be called using "affordances."
* This is an era of endlessly produced and shared information. Because of that, there is concern about the decay of memory. In moments like these, what sort of behavior do people end up engaging in.. what sort of behavior should we engage in, or what sort of knowledge should we hold? Thinking about it would be useful. These days young children do finger-flicks on a pane of glass or on the cover of a book. (Seeing these behaviors felt shocking, but I also wonder whether in the past people did not have similar worries about people in the modern era (at the time when it first began)?)
* There is apparently a research result that as there are more manga or drama choices available, people actually watch nothing at all; whereas when only one is available, people will watch or read it even if they are not interested. (In a way, could this be the cause of the rise of the big-data or customized-service environment? I wonder.)
- Mini-project
1) Making people feel what someone else has done for them.
2) Beyond "path" as a footprint, what value can we give the customer?
3) What are ways to offer individualized environments (service or value) based on dating patterns or stages?
4) It would be good to try writing an answer to: "(Product name) is a kind of (category), solving the need of (focused customer) who wants to (need) in a (certain direction); its competitors include (what), and compared with competitors, it has (what) points of differentiation."
- Schedule
1) Update the Dropbox document based on the research team's final content.
2) Study takes a week off, with a two-hour Business Canvas workshop in its place.
