The Doctrine of the Mean: The Sincerity of All Under Heaven (天下之誠)
Only those who possess the utmost sincerity under heaven can fully develop their own nature. Being able to fully develop their own nature, they can fully develop the nature of others. Being able to fully develop the nature of others, they can fully develop the nature of all things.
Being able to fully develop the nature of all things, they can assist in the transforming and nourishing processes of Heaven and Earth. Being able to assist in these processes, they can form a trinity with Heaven and Earth.
This is the highest aspiration of the Doctrine of the Mean — that through sincerity, a human being can participate in the creative work of the cosmos itself.
