Before You Foolishly Say You Did Your Best...

1.

If, with the same amount of money, the choice comes down to a selection,

and we can be evaluated by an objective standard, I’m confident.

But the world is unequal. Some things don’t work out no matter how hard you try,

and some things time cannot solve. Those things definitely exist.

Is that really true? Or even if it is,

real skill is only when you go beyond that.

Don’t “try hard.” Effort alone isn’t enough.

Before you foolishly say you “did your best,”

you have to think, act, and achieve something beyond effort.

2.

While watching a TV drama, I was able to look back on the hurdles I faced in the past, the times I gave up, and the ways the turn from thought to action played out.

1. What you can’t solve through effort is the lack of experience and credentials caused by circumstances. (e.g., failing a job application because of physical requirements.)

2. The only way to flip that is a prestigious set of credentials,

and the self-deception that comes from here is the question: is it really right to burn up my current time and youth just for those credentials?

(e.g., a high-schooler who dreams of being a botanist should prioritize exam prep over experience with plants and soil.)

: My childhood self and my current self don’t differ much in thought. For a life of integrity, exam study matters, yes, but

experience and research with plants and soil feel far more urgent than that.

3.

Of course, the result isn’t as positive as you’d hope. No — sometimes it’s extremely bleak, and sometimes devastating.

Because to live through the everyday, you have to be opportunistic, and sometimes thoroughly and ruthlessly calculating.

4.

The reason I look down on Jeon Gyeong-bin, a character more impressive than me,

is that he lost his integrity long ago. The places that express the philosophy, concept, or attitude they talk about

are selling at astronomical prices, with quality and design that doesn’t match the cost.

So does that mean that to wear that kind of philosophy, concept, or attitude-styled clothing, money comes first?

Is that their branding? Is that their philosophy?

And then they donate part of the profits. Beautifully… But to me it just feels like a trick.

As far as I know, some of them built things up by overcoming difficult family circumstances.

But at some point… they stopped selling values and started selling good-looking products and clothes.
