Slow Days·서른 사내의 생각
At the Closing Ceremony on February 18th
A single thought traverses the three thousand great worlds.
Just as a hungry person cannot be satisfied merely by knowing many recipes,
just as a mute person who had an incredible dream cannot tell anyone about it,
when the ignorant act rashly, it becomes extremely dangerous,
and when the knowledgeable fail to put their knowledge into practice, they merely become arrogant.
Therefore, one must learn widely and possess knowledge that is put into practice.
The Nirvana Sutra says, "I have said nothing at all."
I merely spoke of the taste of food I know -- you must prepare the food and taste it yourself to truly know the flavor.
Therefore,
truth and the Dharma are not things to be guessed or speculated -- they must be obtained through one's own practice.
Repentance: feeling ashamed of wrongs already committed
Vow: the resolve and pledge never to do it again
The third great enlightenment is knowing the destinies of others,
the second great enlightenment is flying through the sky and using supernatural powers,
and the most difficult, first great enlightenment is
knowing what should not be done and what should be done, and acting accordingly.
