I always feel this, but participating in a study like this by yourself may help accumulate personal knowledge, yet it often fails to help with work. Sometimes it can even create a sense of loss or become a distraction.
The moment someone says, "Your company or your teammates don't even know this?" more than half a lifetime of working can turn into hell.
What seems to matter is how much of it can be shared, whatever form that sharing takes, whether simple knowledge or practical application.
