IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is an international body of professionals in electrical and electronic engineering. IEEE is pronounced 'I-Triple-E' and is headquartered in New York, USA. As of 2004, it is the largest technical organization for electrical and electronic engineering, with 350,000 members across 150 countries, and it develops major standards and research policies. IEEE was founded in 1963 by merging the Institute of Radio Engineers and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers.
