Overview
Sharing books by splitting them.
We live in a society overflowing with information — and books are no exception.
But my greed(?) won't just let them (books) alone.
Still, I probably can't read them all. And it costs a non-trivial amount of money.
On top of that, reading a book matters just as much as chewing it over internally and externally (discussion and debate).
So I want to gather people (for reading).
The offline meetup runs short and simple (about an hour — Saturday morning).
We read together while matching each other's pace.
It runs once a week, four times a month.
Book selection and team selection are done by vote in the comments (up to four teams).
A team forms around a book that attracts four people on a first-come basis.
For one week, each person marks the single most striking passage from the part they read with a Post-it.
At the offline meetup, everyone shares what they read from their portion.
At the offline meetup, all teams gather and hand the part of the book they're holding to the next person.
Of course, busy folks can also take time mid-week to swap books individually — just make sure to leave the one-passage impression.
