Effort Addiction
A bestseller in the German Amazon humanities category. Our knowledge grows day by day, and so it looks as if humanity has evolved far beyond its past. But is that really so? Are we really becoming wiser?

You should look at your own changes
with humor
and enjoy the present.
Simply facing them and
accepting them is more meaningful
and a path that makes me freer.
Whatever the choice may be, between the two it could be the better choice, but it could also be the more wrong one. Whatever you chose, your self has been changed by it.
Our identity, on one hand, comes from another part inherent within us, but on the other hand, it is also shaped by the influence of others, by external environments, and by the decisions we make as we live. All of these strengthen certain aspects within me and cause others to shrink.
So then, what is your personality? A considerable portion of personality is a product of pure chance. So with so many different personality traits sleeping inside us, is there any meaning in the kind of psychoanalysis that tries to figure out who we 'really' are? Becoming aware that one's own influence on one's own life is lower than expected can be a chance to break out of the fence of constant self-reflection. Excessive self-reflection is overkill.
Don't take yourself too seriously. Look at your own changes with humor and enjoy the present. There is no use fighting against the various sides within yourself, especially the unloved ones. Simply facing them and accepting them is more meaningful, and a path that makes me freer.
