The expected drop in Kakao Games' stock price

Prepare in advance or don't be surprised. This isn't just about Kakao Games - it's something almost every newly listed IPO goes through at least once. In fact, this might even be the moment to buy!

The reason it dropped up to 14.53% compared to the previous trading day (the 9th) is that the "one-month mandatory holding commitment" - which requires institutional investors to hold IPO shares of a newly listed company for a certain period - expired, so a lot of shares came to market as people tried to realize their gains. Mandatory holding commitments are one of the factors to watch when investing in newly listed companies; you especially need to check which of the 15-day, 1-month, 3-month, or 6-month commitment periods has a lot of shares assigned to it. When the "heavily allocated period" ends, the stock price can see a big correction. For SK Biopharm, which was listed last July, there wasn't much movement when the 1-month commitment was released, but on October 5, when the 3-month commitment was released, the price dropped sharply into the 10% range. Effectively "under quota" at 106 colleges in university early admissions... four-year regional universities hit hardest

The number of universities effectively "under quota" has risen from 86 last year to 106. Meanwhile, the Korea Higher Education Research Institute, in its report "Measures to Foster Regional Universities to Overcome the University Crisis," predicts that by 2024, out of 220 regional universities outside Seoul / Incheon / Gyeonggi, 85 (34.1%) will fail to fill 70% of their undergraduate freshman quota, and 26 (11.8%) will fail to fill even half of it.

According to the "2020 University Tuition Rankings" data the Ministry of Education submitted on the 10th to Democratic Party Rep. Yoo Ki-hong, chair of the National Assembly's Education Committee, within Seoul the ranking is: Yonsei (8.93 million won), Ewha Womans (8.692 million), Hanyang (8.473 million), Sungkyunkwan (8.386 million), Hongik (8.343 million), and on a national basis, Korea Polytechnic University (8.996 million won) takes first, Yonsei second, Shinhan University - a private in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi - third (8.695 million), Ewha fourth, and Chugye University for the Arts fifth (8.677 million).
