After a while… a Doh-ol lecture (at Do-Dream).

1. Need — physiological (object of satisfaction).

(A calf or a chick walks and pecks the moment it’s born.)

(A human lies helplessly on its back as soon as it’s born.)

: Therefore it needs an Other (mother) for survival and for satisfying needs.

: However, it satisfies the hunger need but wants more than that.

It cries even when it isn’t hungry → the Imaginary.

2. Demand — demands something that increasingly cannot be satisfied.

: Demands something more through language. → the Symbolic:  “This is where conflict arises.”

3. Desire = need — demand = lack. Cannot be satisfied. Arises endlessly.

: Without language, there could be no demand to begin with, so desire couldn’t exist.

4. Further:

    1) If you call the Way the Way, the Way you’ve called is not the true Way.

If you conceptualize (idealize) a name as a name, the name is not the real thing. — Jacques Lacan.

    2) For example, I think I’m speaking my own thought.

But because I didn’t make that language, I am merely uttering already-determined words.

So it’s hard to call it a truly autonomous act. In the end, all humans are mere Others,

and thus the self cannot exist. Desire derived from language cannot be satisfied.

5. Even as I say this, there are moments when I feel my self ceaselessly trying to deceive me.

To break free of that, I keep making time for reflection and effort.

6. The unconscious is the discourse of the Other.

Because we follow the standards of the age, life is inevitably hard.

Only when you’re free from all bonds can you choose your partner.

Don’t live too pressed down — live freely.

7. To ask “is there a better person?” is a foolish question.

A person, like water that grows hot and cold,

can change with the changes of life, so the very words are fooling us.

In other words, the notion called “boredom” is merely deceiving us.

8. Building your own role model yourself.

If you walk your own path as a non-entity without a role model, you can learn far more.

You’ll hit your limits, but with what you’ve gained from diverse experiences,

treat your own life — not a worn-out textbook — as your textbook.

9. If money becomes the goal of life, it’s unhappiness.

No matter what, a human being’s value never ends with themselves alone.

A life that helps other people.

Yeo-min-dong-rak (rejoice together with the people).

Don’t just sit around wishing to grow up or to mature.

Preserve the youth you have now — or had.

What’s all this about blaming your mother? Act autonomously.

Express your own thought in your own way.

10. You’ll become healthier.

    1) Hair grows; essence (jeong): don’t squander your essence.

    2) Healthy teeth.

    3) Your face grows younger.

It’s good to receive more than you consume.

Your stool should not smell foul.

Through a clean bowel movement you feel an empty stomach — one of life’s greatest joys.

The answer is sleep. Through dreamless sleep (release) the face becomes clear and bowel movements become pleasant.

Find the base where you feel safest,

and there you can receive comfort.

You have to build the world of your life. Life isn’t something you’re just given.

Through that building, you help shape your life and the lives of others.

Live as if your hair were hanging from the sky.

The less you eat, the better. Eat little and cleanly.

The human body is nature. What you eat should, as much as possible, be nature.
